Glass Roof Curvature Checking and Test Machines
Home > Projects
Project overview
A leading automotive glass manufacturer, supplying brands such as Jaguar, Land Rover, and Nissan, required a reliable solution to verify the curvature of panoramic roof glass panels. Ensuring the correct curvature is critical—if even slightly off, the glass will not fit properly into the Body-in-White (BIW) car structure.
The challenge was to create a system that could handle large, heavy glass panels, deliver precise measurements, and provide a quick pass/fail decision—all while keeping cycle times to a minimum.
the solution
We delivered a system designed for speed, precision, and ease of use:
-
Automated or Manual Modes – one-button operation or operator-controlled.
-
High-Accuracy LVDTs – measure curvature and give instant pass/fail feedback.
-
Rework Option – panels can be adjusted if out of spec.
-
Barcode Labeling – passed panels are tagged with date, time, operator, and type for full traceability.
Key Benefits
Speed: Entire cycle completed in ~60 seconds.
Accuracy: Reliable LVDT-based curvature measurement.
Ease of Use: Simple operator interface with automated options.
Traceability: Barcode labeling ensures complete quality tracking.
Flexibility: Panels can be reworked if needed, minimising waste.
