Automated Sheet Curing and Storage System
Home > Projects
Project overview
An aerospace manufacturer needed to improve its curing process for resin-coated sheets. The requirement was for a compact system that could store sheets vertically while keeping them easily accessible to operators.
The manufacturer also needed a more controlled process for tracking each board and guiding operators through the required coating and curing stages. The system had to support different product configurations while reducing manual record-keeping and the risk of operator error.
the solution
Incotech designed and manufactured a bespoke system combining vertical board storage with automated tracking and process guidance.
AUTOMATED TRACKING AND PROCESS CONTROL
Every board is tracked and monitored independently throughout the assembly and curing process.
Using the human-machine interface (HMI), operators assign the relevant product preset to each board. The system then provides step-by-step instructions for the next coating operation and monitors the board’s progress to ensure the correct coating sequence and curing time are followed.
The system supports multiple product presets, allowing different products to follow their own coating and curing requirements. Supervisors can also create and amend configurations through the HMI, allowing new products and process changes to be introduced without significant machine modifications.
Key Benefits
-
Efficient use of space: Vertical storage accommodates up to 12 boards within a compact footprint.
-
Individual board tracking: Each board is monitored independently throughout the assembly and curing process.
-
Improved process consistency: Product presets help ensure the correct coating sequence and curing time are followed.
-
Clear operator guidance: Step-by-step instructions reduce the risk of errors during coating operations.
-
Less manual record-keeping: Board progress and process information are recorded within the system.
- Greater production flexibility: Supervisors can create or amend product configurations as requirements change.
