Automated Calibration Machine
Home > Projects
Project overview
This automated machine was designed and manufactured to replace a labour-intensive operation for testing and calibrating torque-limiting screwdrivers. Accuracy and repeatability were essential to ensure reliable calibration across several screwdriver variants.
The challenge was to create a system that could automatically load and handle the products, adjust torque settings, measure and verify results, and provide full traceability—while allowing fast changeovers between different screwdriver types.
the solution
We delivered a calibration machine that combines automation, precision, and traceability:
-
Automated Handling – Conveyors transport screwdrivers to and from the machine, with a pick-and-place unit for automatic loading.
-
Servo-Controlled Adjustment – Torque settings adjusted automatically via a servo drive.
-
Integrated Measurement – Built-in torque measurement verifies each unit.
-
Full Traceability – Serial number recording, test data capture, and laser engraving for permanent identification.
-
Quick Changeover – Simple tool changes allow several screwdriver variants to be processed.
-
Smart Control – PC-based system using National Instruments hardware and LabVIEW software for full machine control.
Key Benefits
